Gurgaon: A 22-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a 48-year-old woman whose body was found near a drain in Faridabad on April 17. Police had earlier arrested his father, who is accused of helping him flee and conceal evidence after the crime.A crime branch team of Faridabad police arrested the main accused, Brahmjeet, on April 21, while his father, Jagwinder (49), was arrested on April 18 and later sent to judicial custody after police remand.Police said the woman was in a relationship with the accused for around one and a half years. Investigations revealed that after Brahmjeet got married in Jan 2025, he stopped meeting her, which led to tensions between them. The accused alleged that she had been pressuring him to continue the relationship.On the day of the incident, Brahmjeet allegedly took the woman to the electricity board office and later persuaded her to accompany him towards a secluded stretch near the drain between Kabulpur and Dhatir. This was when he assaulted and killed her.“After the murder, the accused disposed of the body in the drain before fleeing to Palwal. His father helped him escape”, Yashpal Yadav, police spokesperson, said.Police said the victim, a native of Bihar, lived in Faridabad with her family. On April 15, she left home to pay an electricity bill at the Sector 58 electricity board office but did not return. A complaint was filed by her son, following which a search was launched. Her body was recovered from a drain in the Kabulpur area on April 17.A case has been registered against the two under sections 103(1) (murder), 238(a) (causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information to screen an offender) and 249 (harbouring or concealing an offender to screen them from legal punishment) of BNS at Sector 58 police station.
