Vasai: Five bodies were recovered from different parts of Vasai-Virar over two days, taking the toll due to the recent torrential rain and flooding in the twin cities to 10. Most of the victims are believed to have either drowned or been swept away in floodwaters.Last week’s intense rainfall had triggered widespread flooding and caused drains, lakes and reservoirs to overflow.On Friday, the bodies of four persons were recovered from different locations—Pradeep Kumar Gautam (32), who went missing on July 8, in a lake at Waliv; an unidentified man, believed to be around 40, in a lake at Diwanman; Nilesh Singh (43), missing since July 9, in Nilegaon lake in Nalasopara; and another unidentified man near the Vasai fort jetty. On Saturday, the body of an unidentified man, estimated to be around 55, was recovered from Papadkhind dam in Virar.
