Mumbai: On Friday, Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) convened a meeting between doctors’ organisations and the homeopathy council to set a standard operating procedure (SOP) to integrate homeopaths into modern medical practice. The inclusion of homeopaths in medical practice was met with protests from doctors last year on the grounds that it was a danger to public health.Speaking to TOI, an MMC official said there is no rolling back the decision now unless courts intervene. “This meeting was the first, there would be more. We are trying to finalise how to move forward with registration of homeopaths with the council,” he said. The official added that at large there were concerns around medical negligence by homeopaths while handling modern medicine. “We are trying to set clear terms on what could constitute as negligence and how such cases would be handled,” the official said.
