Pune: Power supply to several villages in Panshet and Tamhini regions, besides two near Chakan, was disrupted after torrential rain-induced landslides and overflowing streams damaged electricity distribution infrastructure. While the supply has been restored to Yelwadi and Sangurdi villages near Chakan after overnight repair work, electricity remains disrupted in several villages in Panshet and Tamhini regions. Blocked roads and damaged infrastructure have slowed restoration efforts there.MSEDCL teams deployed in the affected areas will restore supply in Panshet and Tamhini as soon as access is restored and weather conditions permit. According to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), electricity poles, transformers and distribution lines were either washed away or buried under debris, leaving hundreds of consumers in remote villages without power.A landslide at Ghodkhal buried the Boralkar transformer with its associated power lines and infrastructure, cutting off electricity to nine villages beyond Kashedi — Ghodkhal, Gondekhal, Dapasre, Kurtavadi Ghol, Tekpole, Mangaon, Khanu, Chandar and Garjaiwadi — in the Panshet area. Around 350 consumers were affected. The restoration work can begin only after the road to the site was cleared of debris, MSEDCL said in a statement.A landslide on the 11kV Mulshi-Tamhini feeder in the Davdi area in Tamhini region damaged 15 high-tension poles, 10 low-tension poles and a transformer. The incident disrupted power supply to six villages, affecting 402 consumers — 375 residential, 25 commercial and two industrial connections. Officials said continuous rainfall and fresh debris from the landslide hampered restoration efforts.Floodwaters washed away poles supplying power to Yelwadi and Sangurdi villages under the Chakan MIDC subdivision. As repair vehicles could not reach the site because of slush and waterlogging, MSEDCL employees carried replacement poles and equipment on their shoulders before working through the night to restore electricity.
