Gurgaon: Haryana govt has blocked management information system (MIS) portal access for 1,107 private schools, preventing them from admitting students to the 2026-27 academic session. While 693 of these had issues related to compliance with the Right to Education admission process, 269 were rejected by district elementary education officers (DEEOs). Also on the list were 145 schools that had got DEEO approval but did not obtain recognition.Officials said Gurgaon accounted for 99 such schools, including prominent ones like Imperial Heritage School in Dhankot, GD Goenka Signature School on Sohna Road, and Narayana e-Techno School in Sector 49.The official summary showed that Kaithal had the highest number of blocked schools at 162, of which 126 were rejected by the DEEO. It was followed by Gurgaon (99), Hisar (98) and Panipat (92).Among the districts with relatively low numbers were Panchkula (14), Nuh Mewat (15), and Rewari and Sirsa (both 16). At 10, Fatehabad recorded the fewest blocked schools in the state.Education department officials will review cases as schools complete documentation and recognition-related formalities.Officials said investigations had revealed that many unrecognised institutions functioned as “dummy schools” or coaching centres. Students were officially enrolled in recognised schools for board registration but attended classes at these unauthorised establishments. An official said, “Most of the 1,107 schools failed to obtain recognition because they do not meet the infrastructure and land norms prescribed under Haryana School Education Rules, 2003. Many operate from residential houses or commercial shops with only a few rooms, and lack land, campus facilities, and safety infrastructure.”Officials added that digital verification had got stricter over the past few years when it came to granting UDISE codes and MIS access.
