NEW DELHI: Two more people died on Thursday, a day after two newly constructed buildings collapsed in Sector 16 of Rohini, taking the death toll in the incident to three.The deceased were identified as Kafe (24), a labourer, and Ram Dua (62), the husband of the building owner.According to police, a PCR call was received at around 4.28 pm regarding the collapse of a building in G-4 Pocket, Sector 16, Rohini.Police teams rushed to the spot and found that two newly constructed buildings at G-4/151 and G-4/152 had completely collapsed, with debris strewn across the street. Residents informed the police that several labourers working inside the buildings were feared trapped under the rubble.The information was immediately shared with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the fire department and other civic agencies, following which a joint rescue operation was launched.The injured were taken to BSA Hospital, where Ram (42), a mechanic, was declared brought dead. Another labourer, identified as Saddam, was rescued alive.Later, rescue teams recovered two more bodies from the debris, identified as Kafe and Ram Dua.Police said the rescue operation is nearly complete, though debris removal is still underway. An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of law, and further investigation is in progress.
