Nagaland issues caution for NH-29 commuters

Dimapur: The Chumoukedima district administration has issued a monsoon advisory for commuters using the NH-29 stretch from Chathe bridge (Unity Gate) to Tsiedukhru-Khuokhi bridge (Kukidolong), warning of increased risk of rockfalls and landslides during heavy rain and at night.In an advisory issued on Wednesday, deputy commissioner Polan John urged road users to drive with extreme caution, especially during heavy rainfall and night-time, when the risk of falling rocks and landslides is higher.The administration asked commuters to follow traffic diversions and instructions issued by officials on-site. It said the left-hand side carriageway of the four-lane highway may be temporarily closed to traffic without prior notice whenever required.The advisory also urged people not to circulate or rely on unverified information about road conditions or incidents, and to follow updates issued by competent authorities.The district administration appealed to commuters and road users to cooperate with officials and follow safety measures in the interest of public safety.
