Mumbai: A 13-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly pushing another minor into the Mankhurd creek, leading to his death, following an old argument and enmity in Govandi, police said.The Govandi police arrested the juvenile boy and produced him before the Dongri Juvenile court, which remanded him to a rehabilitation centre.According to the police, the incident took place on Monday at around 6.30 pm near the Telecom Company area at Patilwadi in Govandi. The complainant, 38-year-old tailor Ismail Khalil Sheikh, had gone crab-catching in a stream along with his friend Ayan, his son Hafiz Sheikh, and the child in conflict with law.During the outing, the accused juvenile allegedly took advantage of the fact that Hafiz could not swim. Police said the boy, allegedly bearing a grudge over an earlier dispute, kicked Hafiz from behind and pushed him into a nearby creek with the intention of killing him.Hafiz drowned and died before he could be rescued. the rest of people tried their best to rescue him but as it creek was full of sludge, they couldnot rescue later the police with the help of fire brigade removed his body.Based on the complaint lodged by Ismail Sheikh, the Govandi police registered a case of murder. Further investigation is underway.
