NEW DELHI: Interrogation of six suspected operatives arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell has revealed an alleged plot to carry out petrol bomb attacks at key locations across the national capital on the instructions of Pakistan-based alleged ISI handler Shahzad Bhatti, sources said to news agency ANI.According to investigators, the accused had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of several high-profile locations, including the New Police Lines in Civil Lines, Anand Vihar Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), a railway station and crowded market areas in Delhi. Videos of these locations were recovered from the accused’s mobile phones during the probe.Police sources said the reconnaissance footage was allegedly shared with Bhatti through a banned messaging application. Investigators have also recovered social media chats purportedly exchanged between Bhatti and the arrested suspects.Among the chats recovered are conversations between Bhatti and accused Danish alias Chand Miyan from the last week of June. According to sources, Bhatti allegedly informed Danish that the “material” would be delivered in the evening and instructed him to collect it. After confirming its receipt, Bhatti allegedly directed him to keep it safely and await further instructions. Investigators believe the “material” referred to in the chats was intended for carrying out petrol bomb attacks in Delhi.During the investigation, the Special Cell had earlier recovered petrol bombs from Vijay Ghat, behind Rajghat.Sources said the six arrested men were also in contact with at least 10 Pakistan-based individuals allegedly linked to Bhatti. Police are probing their role and possible involvement in the alleged conspiracy.Investigators alleged that Danish was assigned the task of conducting reconnaissance and planning the attacks in Delhi and was promised Rs 20,000 upon successful execution of the operation. His associate Salman was allegedly tasked with filming the attacks and sending the footage directly to Bhatti.Another accused, Tayyab, a resident of Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, allegedly handled the receipt and sale of the weapons consignment.Zubair Khan of Modinagar in Ghaziabad allegedly transported the weapons consignment from Amritsar, while Ali Fazal of Meerut was allegedly responsible for selling the weapons.Police also alleged that Malkit Singh, a resident of Amritsar, acted as the key conduit for supplying weapons allegedly dropped from Pakistan using drones before they were distributed among members of the network. The six accused were arrested after the Delhi Police Special Cell busted two alleged modules linked to Bhatti. The investigation into the wider cross-border network and the involvement of other Pakistan-based handlers is ongoing.(With ANI inputs)
