Kolkata: A 55-year-old delivery agent, Bechan Jha, was allegedly cheated by two men who pretended to be Kolkata Police officers near Digambar Jain Temple Road in north Kolkata on Monday evening.Jha was carrying Rs 10 lakh to deliver to a jewellery shop. The money was divided into four bundles of Rs 2.5 lakh. Two unknown men stopped him and said they were cops conducting a security check. They asked to inspect his bag.Jha believed them and handed over the bag. During the check, the men allegedly removed one bundle of Rs 2.5 lakh and left the spot. Jha later filed a complaint at Posta Police Station. Police have registered a case of cheating, impersonation and dishonest misappropriation. They are checking CCTV footage and verifying the victim’s statement.
