Amritsar: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted two interlinked cross-border narcotics smuggling cartels and arrested five people with 7.050 kg of heroin.Police teams also impounded a motorcycle used in drug trafficking.The arrested persons were identified as 22-year-old Deepak Singh alias Deepu, a resident of Harkrishan Nagar in Chheharta, Amritsar; Prince Singh alias Prince, a resident of village Kohala in Amritsar; 23-year-old Rajinder Singh alias Ghuddu, 19-year-old Randeep Singh alias Dil, 21-year-old Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, all residents of village Sensra Kalan in Amritsar.The commissioner of police, Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said based on reliable inputs, police teams arrested Deepak Singh alias Deepu and recovered 1.3 kg of heroin from his possession. During interrogation, an additional 2.6 kg of heroin was recovered.Investigating into the links of a common Pakistan-based handler, police teams further arrested Rajinder alias Ghuddu, Randeep alias Dil and Gurpreet alias Gopi, and recovered 1.01 kg of heroin from their possession, said Bhullar.Based on their disclosures, another associate, Prince Singh alias Prince, was also apprehended, and 2 kg of heroin was recovered from his possession, he added.MSID:: 130417158 413 |
