Agartala: Tripura TET-qualified candidates have demanded immediate teacher recruitment, saying prolonged delays have deepened a staffing crisis in govt schools.Protesters have been demonstrating for the past few days outside the Tripura Teachers Recruitment Board and the Directorate of Education, but said they have received no assurance. They said qualified candidates remain unemployed while schools across the state face an acute shortage of teachers, disrupting regular classroom instruction.According to the group, the Elementary Education wing has more than 4,000 vacant teaching posts, but recruitment for TET-qualified candidates has stalled for nearly two years. They said thousands of candidates have already cleared the eligibility test and are ready to join govt service, arguing that filling the vacancies would strengthen the state’s school education system.Highlighting the situation on the ground, the protesters said more than 370 govt schools in Tripura are currently running with only one teacher, forcing a single staff member to handle multiple classes along with examinations, administrative work, student records and other duties. They said the shortage is hurting learning outcomes and placing a heavy burden on teachers, particularly in remote and rural areas, and called for timely recruitment to ease the pressure.
