CHENNAI: A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death after a confrontation with a pedestrian near Chennai Central Railway Station late on Monday night. The Flower Bazaar police registered a murder case and launched a search for the assailant.The deceased was identified as Vasanth, 22, a resident of Old Washermenpet. He worked as a housekeeping employee at a private shipping company in Parrys and also rode for an online bike-taxi aggregator during his spare time.According to the police, Vasanth was riding his motorcycle from Kilpauk towards Old Washermenpet at around 11.30 p.m. He entered a one-way stretch near Chennai Central Railway Station and was proceeding towards Wall Tax Road when his motorcycle brushed against a pedestrian.The incident led to a verbal altercation between the two. During the confrontation, the pedestrian allegedly attacked Vasanth with a sharp weapon, inflicting a deep cut on his neck before fleeing the scene.Vasanth collapsed on the road, and passersby alerted the police. He was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.The Flower Bazaar police registered a case of murder and began an investigation. Police are examining whether the killing resulted from a sudden quarrel or was a premeditated attack. Efforts are under way to identify and apprehend the suspect.
