New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested six alleged associates of Pakistan-based terrorist Shehzad Bhatti, who were allegedly planning an attack on a police station near ITO in central Delhi, reports Rajshekhar Jha.Police said the group had also done reconnaissance of a political party office as a potential target. Additional Commissioner (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha said Bhatti had instructed the suspects to target police establishments with petrol bombs.Police have recovered several petrol bombs. The arrests follow a video in which Bhatti threatened police against naming him in probe or arresting his men.Bhatti claimed he had cut ties with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi following the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.Following the video, intelligence inputs suggested that Bhatti’s network may have activated two modules in Delhi on ISI instructions.Three teams comprising inspector Sunil Rajain, ACP Vivek Tyagi and others were formed, raids were conducted, leading to the arrest of six.Two of them, Danish alias Chand Miya (24) and his friend Salman (20), both from Muzaffarnagar, were arrested near Vijay Ghat.Kushwaha said three petrol bombs, three pistols, five cartridges, two cars, a stolen motorcycle and mobile phones containing chats with Pakistani handlers were seized.Kushwaha said: “Danish came in contact with Rana Hunain (a Pakbased ISI operative and associate of Bhatti) through social media in April.”He said that Danish was promised Rs 20,000 for carrying out successful attack, and Salman Rs 20000 for filming the attack.The second module, run by another Pak-based ISI operative, Hassan Gujjar, also an associate of Bhatti, received firearms smuggled into India from Pak using drones along the Punjab border.“We arrested Tayyab (27), a resident of Shaheen Bagh; Jubair Khan (24), from Modinagar in UP; and Ali Fazal (26), of Meerut, from the Kalindi Kunj area,” said DCP Praveen Tripathi. Police have seized firearms, two cars and mobile phones containing conversations with their handlers, said Tripathi.Another accused, Malkiat Singh (36), of Amritsar, was arrested from Punjab. He allegedly delivered smuggled-in arms to operatives in Delhi.
